This new generation of bead-based quantification (BBQ) assay kits is for the quantitative detection of cytokines and other cell communication factors using flow cytometry.
The assays require fewer washing steps and allow longer incubation and storage times than ELISA. The magnetic particle-based immunoassays are available for human IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-12 (p70), Fas Ligand and Granzyme B in both human and mouse IFN-y, IL-10 and TNF-alpha. Its broad detection ranges, permit multiparametric analysis and can be used with cell culture media, sera and plasma.
The stimulated cells and antibody-coated particles are incubated. The protein bound to the particles is then stained with a second, fluorescence-labeled antibody, forming a sandwich layer. The particles are then analyzed by cytometry.
