photoBBL CHROMagar Candida Medium is for the selective isolation of yeast and filamentous fungi and the differentiation of Candida albicans, C. tropicalis and C. krusei. The chromogenic technology facilitates the detection of mixed yeast cultures in specimens. These organisms are usually not differentiated on other fungal isolation media.
The medium contains artificial substrates (chromogens) that release different colored compounds upon degradation by specific microbial enzymes. Organisms cultured on the medium react in such a way that the colonies take on a characteristic color and colonial morphology. It is thus possible to distinguish species or groups of organisms with a minimum of confirmatory tests. BD Biosciences
