The SlidePrep Plus from EKF Diagnostics, Cardiff, UK, is a self-contained, compact centrifuge for in vitro diagnostic use. Its primary function is to produce a monolayer of cells onto a glass slide from any fluid suspension under the safest conditions possible. Samples are centrifuged in reusable or disposable concentrating funnels, or in concentrating funnels that include a filter material to absorb and capture suspension fluid during cytocentrifugation. The centifuge is capable of processing up to six specimens at one time. Features include a removable, sealed rotor; an LCD display with digital controls; and an audible alarm that signals when the device is out of balance or when specimens can be removed.
