The automated platforms integrate four testing methodologies in a compact footprint and offer up to 13 hours of walkaway time for mid- and high-volume laboratories.


Siemens Healthineers announced that its CN-3000 and CN-6000 automated hemostasis analyzers are now available for patient testing in the US. Designed for mid- and high-volume clinical laboratories, the systems consolidate clotting, chromogenic, immunoassay, and platelet aggregation testing methodologies onto a single platform that is up to 60% smaller than comparable systems currently on the market.

According to the company, hemostasis testing plays an essential role in clinical decision-making for surgery, anticoagulation therapy, and bleeding disorders by detecting abnormal blood clotting or bleeding. The CN systems support routine and specialty assays, enabling facilities to manage increasing workloads and high sample volumes within a smaller physical footprint.

“Streamlining complex workflows inherent to hemostasis testing allows labs to maximize productivity in a high-demand test category,” says Michele Zwickl, head of laboratory solutions, Siemens Healthineers North America, in a release. “The CN systems offer an efficiency trifecta:the ability to process more tests, deliver results faster, and reduce hands-on tasks, so that laboratory professionals can focus their expertise where it’s needed most.”

Automation and Extended Walkaway Time

To minimize manual intervention and routine instrument management, the analyzers incorporate automated features including predictive reagent management, automated repeat and reflex testing, advanced pre-analytical sample assessment, and onboard troubleshooting guidance, the company stated. In addition, the systems offer large onboard reagent and consumable capacities that provide up to 13 hours of walkaway time.

The analyzers can also integrate with existing track-based laboratory automation and Atellica Data Manager, allowing health networks to access testing analytics, centralize instrument oversight, and standardize laboratory operations across multiple locations.

According to Siemens Healthineers, the CN-3000 and CN-6000 systems use common reagents, consumables, workflows, and user interfaces across multi-site health systems, which can generate operational cost efficiencies and standardize the testing experience. The instruments are also designed to maintain result correlation across the company’s other hemostasis platforms as laboratory volume and testing demands grow.
