Quest Diagnostics Inc, Madison, NJ, announces that it has been selected again to be part of the Dow Jones Sustainability (DJSI) World and North American Indexes. The company is in its fifth year on the World Index, first added in 2004, and has appeared on the North American Index since 2005.

According to DJSI, companies were identified as "sustainability leaders" based on objective benchmarks linked to financial, environmental and social criteria. The DJSI defines corporate sustainability as "a business approach that creates long-term shareholder value by embracing opportunities and managing risks deriving from economic, environmental and social developments. Corporate sustainability leaders achieve long-term shareholder value by gearing their strategies and management to harness the market’s potential for sustainability products and services while at the same time successfully reducing and avoiding sustainability costs and risks."

The DJSI Sustainability Indexes track the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide, providing asset managers with reliable and objective benchmarks. The DJSI World Index contains approximately 300 companies, and the DJSI North America Index contains approximately 100 companies that were selected from among the largest 600 North American corporations of the Dow Jones Global Index. DJSI indexes are produced by Sustainable Asset Management Group (SAM), based in Zurich, Switzerland, together with Dow Jones Indexes and STOXX Limited.
