BioImagene Inc, the leading provider of innovative digital pathology solutions, launched Crescendo – the new Digital Pathology Workstation (DPW) at CAP ’09. The meeting is taking place from October 11 – 14, 2009 in the Gaylord National Harbor in Washington, DC.

The Crescendo was launched on October 11  by Dr. Ajit Singh, chief executive officer of BioImagene.  He commented, “Crescendo, analogous to its musical namesake, is at the pinnacle of diagnostic intelligence. It is an integrated platform that brings together diagnostic information from all relevant sources, including anatomical pathology, clinical pathology, radiology, molecular medicine, and facilitates efficient and effective diagnosis, collaboration and decision support.”

Crescendo DPW aids in transforming the role of a pathologist into that of a diagnostician. It polls data from silos such as laboratory information systems (LIS), radiology picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), gross images, online references (eg, PathXchange.org), and differential patient information to provide pathologists with all the relevant information at their fingertips. Crescendo is a modern-day companion for the pathologists, custom designed to ensure maximum productivity.

Richard C. Friedberg, MD, PhD, chairman of the department of pathology at Baystate Health in Springfield, Mass., commented “With the advent of digital pathology, all the relevant diagnostic information can be displayed side-by-side, to provide the most complete and accurate diagnostic picture for an individual patient. The promise of Crescendo is to integrate the various diagnostic disciplines into a true diagnostic workstation.”
