The new method for the oncoReveal Nexus 21 Gene Panel is validated for use on the Microlab STAR and STARlet liquid handling systems.
Pillar Biosciences and Hamilton Company announced the validation and commercial release of an automated next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation method for the oncoReveal Nexus 21 Gene Panel. The workflow is designed for the Hamilton Microlab STAR and STARlet liquid handling systems.
The oncoReveal Nexus 21 Gene Panel is a research-use-only assay designed to interrogate 21 genes relevant to both blood cancers and solid organ cancers. This release represents the second validated automation workflow developed under the strategic collaboration between the two companies, according to a press release.
The automated method is designed to prepare up to 96 NGS libraries in a single continuous run. The system utilizes Pillar’s single-tube, SLIMamp-powered target enrichment workflow to help laboratories increase efficiency, improve reproducibility, and accelerate cancer research.
“The oncoReveal Nexus 21 Gene Panel brings together a concise, high-value set of targets for both hematologic and solid tumor research in a workflow that is well suited to automation,” says ShiPing Zou, senior director of global product management for Pillar Biosciences, in a release. “By extending our Hamilton STAR automation work to Nexus 21, we are helping laboratories reduce hands-on effort, support higher throughput, and deliver rapid, reliable NGS library preparation using Pillar’s proprietary SLIMamp chemistry.”
The Nexus 21 workflow expands the portfolio of validated Pillar Biosciences automation methods available on Hamilton systems, providing laboratories with flexibility when implementing automated NGS workflows across multiple oncology applications.
