The expanded test uses proprietary hydrolysis processing to detect 16 additional fungal metabolites from a single urine sample.

RealTime Laboratories Inc has launched its Mycotoxin Extensive Panel, an expanded urinary diagnostic test featuring 31 clinical markers designed to detect mold and environmental toxin exposure.

The laboratory, a US BioTek medical and diagnostic facility specializing in environmental toxins, designed the expanded test to analyze a single urine sample. The panel detects mycotoxins commonly associated with mold exposure, such as satratoxins, roridins, and trichothecenes, while adding 16 new markers, including citrinin, fumonisins, and chaetoglobosin A.

To address analytical challenges in urinary testing, the panel incorporates proprietary hydrolysis processing technology paired with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, according to the company. RealTime Labs noted that this enhanced methodology aims to identify mycotoxin metabolites that standard assays might miss due to metabolite masking and modification.

“The expansion of our mycotoxin panel and methodologies underscores our commitment to diagnostic accuracy and rigorous laboratory standards,” says Jack Frausing, CEO of US BioTek, parent company of RealTime Labs, in a release. “Serving as partners to both practitioners and patients, RealTime Labs empowers informed clinical action, improving confidence in treatment decision making.”

The new panel also broadens RealTime Labs’ multi-analyte testing profiles, including the All-Tox Profile and MOE-Tox Complete Profile, which assess mycotoxin exposure in conjunction with heavy metals, organic acids, and environmental pollutants to evaluate cellular mitochondrial function and total body burden, according to the release.

“For practitioners, the value of comprehensive testing is having more information to consider as part of the overall clinical picture,” says Marjorie Peak, ND, consulting physician for RealTime Labs, in a release. “By expanding the number of markers measured and using an expanded methodology designed to capture a wider range of mycotoxin metabolites, the panel builds on RealTime Labs’ existing testing capabilities and provides additional context to support clinical decision-making.”

RealTime Labs is a CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited clinical laboratory, according to the company. The Mycotoxin Extensive Panel is available through healthcare provider networks as well as direct-to-consumer channels, and can be paired with the company’s environmental mold and mycotoxin assessment to evaluate exposure in ambient surroundings.
